Medical assistants (MA) are trained health-care providers who work in environments such as a physician’s practice, dentist’s office, hospital, clinic or school. They provide patient care and assist doctors with treatments and procedures. A MA performs initial patient assessments, which includes a preliminary physical exam. They obtain a patient’s vital signs and gather information pertaining to one’s medical history.
